And this is how it goes, friends. I get ready to spend the Thanksgiving weekend living by myself, and it goes like this. I get a vast number of young adult novels at the library. I burn my finger on our broken dryer and watch it blister. I wear my boots even though there's only two inches of SNOW outside, and it's not eve on the sidewalk. I mull over in my head how the fact that the only plans I have for this holiday thing are tentative cooking plans with my ex-boyfriend. I revel in the fact that it's winter, so I stopped shaving my legs ages ago, and they're beautiful. I buy croutons at the store to make stuffing the Miller way. I laugh when spell check doesn't know what to do with the word "croutons." I prep for Community discussions that don't happen. I make promises to call everyone I know over the weekend for catch-up phone dates. I marvel at the fact that I lost my favorite apron in the move three months ago, and I still can't locate it. I plan to wear my "Question Authority- Jesus Did" shirt on Friday, until I find out that I'm going in to work. I remind people that it really doesn't bother me to have the house to myself for the weekend, even over Thanksgiving. Really, I promise, it's all right and I don't mind it. I've got a million young adult novels to keep me company, and that's good with me.

I stuck home alone this weekend, too, so that I can make myself get papers written. I should have gone with young adult books. I went to the library and got My Sister's Keeper because so many people have recommended it to me, but it's super sad. I think that I'm going to have to vote it off the Thanksgiving reading list. Cary says that I'm going to get to meet John tomorrow! Cooking plans with ex-boyfriends sound a bit more practical than snuggling, but I was never very practical. sigh. I hope that you find the polka dot apron- it's wonderous. love and no turkey!

Snuggling... uh oh! Fill me in, please!
I've heard good things about My Sister's Keeper, too- tell me how you like it. If you get around to finding time to read it, that is.
I'm wearing a sweater I got from your roommate Katie, and it makes me think of you. And I miss you. Tell me again why St. Louis and Denver aren't in the same place?
Have fun with Jon! Nicky's in Austin Texas with Miss Erin Dake, and I am a little jealous. Christian is swell, but it's not the same... as anything. Okay, have fun with your papers.
love love love,

I got a lot of Nancy Gardner and Chris Crutcher, and a little Brett Hartinger. Also a collection of Wayside Stories that I hadn't read yet. I'm in for a good weekend, I believe.

Sounds like a nice relaxing weekend. I spent my holiday with the family... then the next day with them again watching football. It was a good game... although I much more enjoyed the post-football Monopoly game.

Haven't read young-adult fiction in a while. Although I read the last Harry Potter book a few months ago. Does that count?
