I'm in Kansas City, Missouri, and it's pretty flipping wonderful. Not the Missouri part, necessarily, but the part where I get to be with Mana for the first time in months. (It turns out visits with me are bad luck for her and Nick and their jobs, but what can I do about that?) It's so nice to be in the presence of someone who knows me, who's known me for a long time through a lot of changes. It's really good to physically be with a friend who isn't immersed in the life I have in Denver- provides good and needed perspective. We spent a while today talking about what it means to be a grown-up and how tough that gets. But being a grown-up is good if it means we have good relationships in our lives, that's what I think. I like the friendships where we can keep each other entertained without doing things that some people would consider entertaining. It's just good to be here, that's all.
