Oct. 13th, 2004 12:35 pmThere are some things that I do not understand, three of them being:
1. How it keeps getting prettier and more beautiful here in Denver. How do mountains, fall, and trees become more and more gorgeous all the time?
2. How telephones work, and how they can make someone in Costa Rica seem as if she is just down the street. I talked to Shannon on Monday night for the first time since we moved for this year, and I love how we can pick back up where we left off. It keeps amazing me in a great way how friends and I can be doing very different things this year, and still relate so well, all at the same time.
3. Why on earth I've stayed away from my LiveJournal for so long. I think partly, I needed to have a different way to process. It's been a long time since I wrote journals that no one read on a regular basis. I think it's been really good for me, though unexpected. I do read the LJs semi-regularly, but only when I have a break at work for lunch or whatever, so I don't feel too right typing out a whole entry. But maybe I'll get back into it, we'll see. I think it's important for me to cut myself off in some ways at the beginning of new adventures to be able to plunge a little more into the newness; I know I cut myself off for a while freshman year of college, too.
I really am happy out here, though, and I'm learning a lot. New ways to live in Community, new ways to do social work, new ways to express myself (I bought Crayola paints to practice with, though I need more practice than I thought possible!), new ways to experience spirituality, new ways of keeping in touch (I write letters), new ways of solidarity, new ways to cook (!), new ways to say, "I've never done that before."
There is so much goodness here.
