Nov. 29th, 2003 02:19 amJust got back from Shannon’s a little bit ago, and it was actually quite the group of us hanging out. Kari, Aaron, Jenn, Annette, Ben, Khodai, and I all made appearances, which is a fair amount of people for a pretty last-minute gathering. It wasn’t too eventful, but we watched a movie (a murder mystery farce musical in French, at the choice of Kari and Aaron) and had one of those talks that volleys back and forth between politics and high school. Nothing out of the ordinary, but I enjoyed myself. I hadn’t seen most of the crowd since summer, and even if the talk wasn’t too in depth, it was nice to be in each other’s presence again. Khodai hardly said a word, but he can get that way in group settings. Mostly, I think I remembered how difficult it can be to start conversations when you don’t know someone as deeply as you would like for the amount of time you’ve spent with the person. I don’t, for example, know much about how Ben spends his time these days, but that doesn’t mean I ask, it just means that we all talk politics, and I talk about Community too much, and I hope that he pipes up with his own details. It’s not as awkward as I maybe make it sound to be. We also made plans to have a New Year’s party this year, and that should be good. Shannon and I both offered our houses, so we’ll see where it ends up. It’s been a long time since we’ve had a good New Year’s shindig.
