Jul. 10th, 2003 12:48 amFor three days both my address book AND a key to my bike lock were noticeably lost. Tonight, they were both found, thankfully.
I hung out with Shannon tonight for our usual date, and since the finding of these missing important things was the most significant thing that had happened to me since I saw her last week, I was briefly borderline-concerned that I might not have anything interesting to contribute to the Conversation tonight. I was wrong, it seems. Because for four hours, we discussed gravely vital things, like “Trading Spaces,” dorm room layouts, class evaluations, and the apparent importance of me seeing “High Fidelity.” AND we expanded:
--our knowledge of computer role-playing games
--our slang, with the term “twink”
--our upcoming line of clothing, including women’s swim suit bottoms the length of men’s swim suit bottoms and a new shoe style with the slogan “A Sneaker of One,” where we sell one sneaker for the price of two. This way, our shoes won’t be made by child laborers AND they will be noticeably trendy since the one will be platform or high-heeled. You KNOW these products will be all the rage. And if you don’t play by our trend-setting rules, you will be a TWINK.
Other than these exciting events, not a lot has happened lately. I did watch the first twenty minutes of Big Brother IV in honor of my Mana, and decided promptly that I would not share a house with one of my exes no matter what the prize money. That would turn out badly all around. I was able to talk to Mana though last night afterwards (and now I can even call her since I have my address book again!), and I would live in the same house with her for at least three months. Maybe that can be next summer’s Big Brother V gimmick? The BFF Factor?
On the list of goals, progress is being slowly made. The journal compilation is complete. Too damn many hours were spent at the computer making this possible, but now I have it, and it will be printed once I get back to Omaha. All 239 single-spaced pages of it since January 2001. Good lord. I’ve also spent some time (read: more hours on the computer) looking into volunteer places. Top of my list currently is a program in Denver, though ones in Baltimore and Philadelphia look pretty promising as well. But I know I need to do a lot more research and thinking.... The no-sew blanket got attempted the other night, but the fabric store we wanted to go to was closed, so that was as far as I got. And-please-don’t-ask-about-all-the-stuff-in-my-room-that-I’ve-had-for-years-and-years-and-years-like-birthday-cards-from-probably-fourth-grade-and-every-note-someone-has-ever-written-me-since-middle-school-and-so-on.... I’d rather not think about all of that sorting that needs to be done!! Yipes!
