This past weekend was wonderful. I went to Omaha, and aside from the curse I possess when it comes to MSP/OMA flights, all was great. Friday noonish I got to Community, where Vicky came over, and we hung out some with Jeffrey, KP, Mei Li, and Mark. (Also, I love Community because they haven’t turned on the air conditioning at the big house. In the ninety-degree weather. I dripped while I talked with Mark. (But it was really nice to chat with him, get caught up some. I keep appreciating him more and more. It’s really too bad he’s not going to be around Omaha next year. I was kind of looking forward to having him around if he decided to go to Creighton’s med school. Oh well, he found a better option, I suppose.)) There, I discovered that everyone from Community, their mom, and their four hundred best friends were all out of town. Or at least that’s what it seemed like, with no Mary, Rosie, Nick, Neal, Lucie, etc. But we all hung out for a bit, then Vicky and I went back to her house to play. We’d decided to do something with Colin that evening (or should I say, Colin decided to grace us with his presence after he was off of work), so we had to schedule our fun around him some. In the meantime, we trekked back to Creighton’s end of town to meet people for a happy hour dinner at Cali Taco; Kevin wanted to see me while I was around (and I’d wanted to visit with him too, very definitely), and he was leaving Saturday morning. So a little crowd of us met up there, and chatted it up. Vicky was happily reintroduced to Cali Taco, and I was in a great mood already. Vicky and I went back to her house and played some more, until we went out mini-golfing with Colin, KP, and Kevin. Let me announce that the five of us were a hoot. Kevin and I did our infamous “passing dance” while Colin tried to play the game correctly. I kept score quite accurately, and the boys and I made fun of Mr. Ault. After Kevin (the score adder) apparently won, we all went out to Old Chicago. There, we learned many interesting things. We were enlightened as to just what a vegan will eat off the Old Chicago menu. We heard stories about drunk people. We saw Vicky’s competitive side, as evidenced by her challenge of a race to see who could finish her drink faster, her or me. I consumed my first entire alcoholic beverage, and they were all quite disappointed that they couldn’t figure out yet what the funny-thing-I-do-when-I-am-drunk is. Yadda, yadda, yadda. Colin brought Vicky and I back to her house, where the three of us stayed up and talked until two. Vicky and I kept each other us talked more until after 3:30. I then proceeded to wake up (on my own) at 9:30, letting her get up then too. She was really excited about that part, let me tell you. To continue with the paragraph that never ends, Saturday afternoon we sat around a lot, but also drove some, located one of Vicky’s schools (as well as Creighton Prep and the Drive of Excellence), and played with Mandy German until Mana came over for dinner. The tricky part of that was figuring out what all three of us would eat, with our respective food restrictions. After dinner, I went to Bana’s to shack. She and Katie and I hung out and talked a bunch. For a while I just sat on Mana’s bed and enjoyed the fact that for the first time in a month, I was in the same place as my best friend. We talked about falling in love, and about work wardrobes, and about stupid people, and about family, and, well, it was good. And then we all fell in love with the guy from “Sweet Home Alabama” before crashing in bed. Sunday was not quite as eventful, though I spent some time at the Little House with Mana. We got to see the house where Rosie, Kevin, Joanna, and Angelina all live now, and it’s really awesome. And even more so awesome since it is JUST DOWN THE STREET basically from my houses. WE WIN!!! I was thrilled to see Rosie, and Holly too. Then I got to go to the airport and sit there for multiple hours, but why would I expect differently with my flying luck?
It was just a great weekend, it really really was. I just loved seeing everyone, and getting to celebrate Victoria’s birthday with her (belated). These people just mean a lot to me, I guess is it, and I loved being able to spend time with them. And I felt all special when they wanted to spend time with me.
