I suppose that I should maybe talk a bit about how my whole blind date thing went... :) I had a really good time. Turned out my date from Kiewit didn't work out at the last minute (we're talking Sunday afternoon..), so I got a date from Gallagher instead. Codak took Jen and I to Village Inn where we waited for Mana and the guys to show up. So who walks in with Mana and John, but "Freshman Jim." I just laughed. Jim Hougas is a really fun guy I know from working the desk and who knows what else. We just know each other, and he is a great guy. I breathed a huge sigh of relief when Mana and the guys showed up, and part of that was DEFINITELY a result of just finally knowing I actually had a date- that pressure was gone. All that build-up was gone, and I was pleased that Jim was there. I'm really glad it was Jim- he would actually have been my top choice for a blind date of the other possibilities, Abe and Jack. Jack's awesome, but I know we would have both felt awkward on a blind date together. With Jim, it wasn't weird. We both knew it wasn't a 'real' date, and we're flirty anyways, so it was no big deal. Very easy-going. I'm so glad. I think we all just had a fun time once things got going. Yes, I did flip out (tears included) when we first got to Village Inn and I learned that once again, things were not as I had understood, but I calmed down fine. (Codak made a good comment on the amazing powers of women's bathrooms to change everything.) Between tears and when the other half of our group showed up, I did some explaining to Codak about why I was so upset and anxious about this whole thing, and I got the sweetest comment I've heard in a long time. I was telling him about my apprehension of if-my-date-is-from-Swanson-then-what-if-it's-Abe-and-etc, and he told me, "Terry, there isn't anyone is Swanson worthy of going out with you." Cue the melting of Theresa. It was fantastic and just what I needed to hear at that point. Things kept getting better after that- Mana, John, and Jim showed up, we ate pie, Jim tried to kill us with his driving skills (haha), we saw "Murder by Numbers," we learned some GREAT new lines (peanut butter!), and a good time was had by all. Jim and I declared that on our next date we will go skinny dipping in the fountain. So maybe not, but... :) I'm not going to seriously date him or anything, but I did enjoy his company for the evening. And Jen and I got flowers, so that was a bonus as well. :)
But I am off. Three classes, two papers, two tests, a quiz, and one comprehensive final from now, and I shall be a junior in college! Scared yet? :)
